Deputies from Lawrence County have taken their patrols from the roads to the rivers. The latest efforts from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is aimed at underage drinking, illegal drug use and the large amounts of trash left on the river’s in the county.

Deputies patrolled the lower Black River on Friday, encountering residents who were happy to see the efforts of the Sheriff’s Office. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Patrol Boat was back in the water on the upper end of the Black River, making shore contact with the public and informing those that are using the rivers that the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office will be actively patrolling throughout the summer months.

The current efforts are just one of many that Sheriff Dotson has put into place to make Lawrence County a safer county for those enjoying our area.
