Authorities Investigating Man Injured By A Train As Victim Fights For His Life

Hoxie Fire Department, Hoxie Police, AET Ambulance and Lawrence County Deputies were dispatched to an injured pedestrian near Lawrence 707 in the Minturn area.

Members of the Hoxie Fire Department along with the Hoxie Police Department arrived on scene to find a train stopped on the tracks, after a brief search of the area, the victim was found near Lawrence 706 just north of the Minturn City Limits with what was described as severe head trauma but still breathing. Chief Mark VanBrook immediately called for a medical helicopter, once the estimated arrival time was discovered, the victim was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital to await the Air-Evac unit.

Initial reports were that the victim may have been struck by the train, but authorities believe the victim may have jumped from the train. The incident is being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. The victims name has not been released.
