On 04-01-12, Cpl. Bobby Woods, with the Ravenden Police Department attempted to stop a maroon Dodge Dakota truck, traveling north on US 63 for speeding. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. Cpl. Woods pursued the vehicle into Sharp County for approximately 10 miles, where it ended on on Brown’s Creek Road. The suspect, identified as Wesley Minton, age 33, from Walnut Ridge, fled the vehicle on foot into the woods. The vehicle was then reported stolen out of Randolph County. Officer’s searched the area until dark. While leaving the area, Lt. Steve Taylor, with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, came upon a vehicle stopped in the road, and discovered the driver was a friend of Minton. Trooper Jeremy Conner and Cpl. Bobby Woods, then got into the vehicle with the friend, and was able to arrest Mr. Minton at a residence on Sherwood Lane in Sharp County. Mr. Minton was transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where he was charged with Theft By Receiving, Felony Fleeing, Fleeing on Foot, DWI, and numerous traffic charges. The Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and Hardy Police Department assist the Ravenden Police Department during the incident.
