The 2012 Pinewood Derby held by Cub Scout pack 728 was a big success! The scouts built derby cars to compete in catergories such as fastest car, most scout spirit, best racing design, and most creative. Adults could also design a car to participate in their own fastest car catergory. We would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to our judges State Representative James Ratliff, Mayor Gene Dearen, and Sloan-Hendrix High School principal Clifford Rorex. We also want to thank  Jimmy McGuire of Pocahontas for building and donating our track. Winners were Fastest car: 1st place Cooper Hale, 2nd place Adrian Grooms, and 3rd place Dalton Cooper. Best racing design was Cooper Hale while Dalton Cooper recieved most creative. Best scout spirit went to Dustin Folk. Winners in the adult division were 1st place Ryan Cooper, 2nd place Jimmy McGuire, and 3rd place Marcus Matheny. Congratulations to all our winners!

The district Pinewood Derby will be held on March 3, 2012 at the Randloph County Fairgrounds in Pocahontas.
