Charles “Chad” Green was ordered Thursday by the request of defense attorney Jeff Rosenzweig to undergo a mental evaluation after testing positive for the active ingredient in marijuana. Green is on trial for the deaths of a Dalton couple and their two children. The evaluation was ordered just moments before jury selection was to begin in Randolph County Circuit Court, jurors were asked to return to court on Monday.

Green plead guilty to murder and kidnapping in the 2004 case and was sentenced to 40 years in prison as part of a plea deal in which he testified against his father. The plea deal was revoked when Green refused to testify a second time after his father’s murder conviction was overturned.
