Around 8am this morning Walnut Ridge Police Chief Richey Thatcher discovered a vehicle off in the flood waters between Pocahontas and the Lawrence County line believed to be that of the missing 31 year old Pocahontas woman.

After pulling the vehicle from the waters, it was confirmed by the Arkansas State Police that it was the 2003 Lincoln belonging to Jana Chastain. Investigators confirmed that nothing was found inside the vehicle.

At this time, the Lawrence County Dispatch Center says units from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Walnut Ridge Police Department, Pocahontas Police Department, Pocahontas and Walnut Ridge Fire Departments and Arkansas State Police are assisting in the on going search for the missing woman. Search Boats and Aircraft along with lots of manpower are continuing to search the flooded area.
