Sheriff Jody Dotson today released the details of two recent “Most Wanted” arrest by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

March 30th the LCSO arrested William Haines of Ravenden for Sexual Assault 2nd Degree and Sexual Indecency With A Minor. The arrest was assisted by the Pocahontas Police Department and concerned citizens calling with information of Haines whereabouts after seeing him on the Sheriff’s Office website.

The arrest came after an allegation involving an 11 year old female was called into the child abuse hotline. Information gathered during the investigation by the LCSO and Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division led to a warrant being issued. Information from citizens began coming in soon after Haines was put on the website and reports were that Haines was working in Pocahontas. Pocahontas PD was contacted and picked up Haines without incident, a deputy was then sent to Pocahontas to pick up Haines. Bond for Haines was set at $25,000.00 and an April 27th Circuit Court Date was issued.

In another arrest by the LCSO from it’s “Most Wanted ” list came when deputies returned from Los Angeles, CA with Joshua Morris of Hoxie on charges of theft of property, criminal mischief, residential burglary and probation absconding. Morris was placed on probation last fall for the same types of crimes and then went missing from his probation officer.

On January 29th, 2011 Morris was captured on video breaking into a cabin on the Spring River near Imboden. The evidence was used to obtain a warrant for Morris. Next Morris turned up in California on misdemeanor drug charges. While being booked in California a check showed warrants from Lawrence County.

Morris was taken for an extradition hearing and the paperwork to send him back to Arkansas was sent to the Sheriff’s Department. Deputies took the County Jail transport van to California to retrieve Morris. Once back in Lawrence County, Morris was taken for a bond hearing and bond was set at $10,000 cash and a Circuit Court date of April 27th was issued.

Morris will also be charged with the expense of the trip to pick him up. For more information on the Sheriff’s Office visit their site at www.lawrencecountysheriffsoffice.com
