Thursday students at Black Rock High School observed a demonstration by firefighters, ems and deputies concerning drinking and driving.

The mock drill involved a head on collision with injuries and fatalities. Students watched as the Black Rock Fire Department responded to the accident, followed by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and 2 ambulances from AET Ambulance. Once on scene, Black Rock ask for assistance from the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department. Imboden responded with it’s Rescue 4 and extracation tools.

Student’s watched as the Lawrence County Deputies arrested the drunk driver and fire and ems cut the top off the vehicle to remove a victim. Once the victim was removed, students watched as the patient was loaded and taken away by the ambulance.

Once the exercise was over, Joe Chappell with Black River Technical College and Officer Blake Liscomb of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department talked with students about the dangers that drinking and driving causes.
