The fourth annual Freedom in the Park Celebration was a huge hit this Saturday October 16th, 2010. Friends and family gathered together in the Imboden City Park to honor those serving in the military and our veterans. The cool October weather made for a beautiful day.
Celebration attendee’s kicked back in their lawn chairs to listen to the live music provided by the Murphy Bluegrass Boys, Mike Mcleod, Mike Waggoner, and Captain T Hunnicutt. They put on quite a show!
S&H Quick Stop owner and the event’s organizer Judy Henderson is responsible for putting together Freedom in the Park each year.
Free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, and more were provided free of charge to all those who attended. This year a bounce castle was made available for local children to play in during the event as well.
Along with Freedom in the Park locals stopped by the Arkansas Fallen Heroes Memorial located along highway 63 across from S&H Quick Stop. The travelling flag memorial pays tribute to all the fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom in the Global war on Terrorism. In front of each flag is a post with a picture and short story of each fallen hero.
The Arkansas Fallen Heroes Memorial will be in place through October 22nd and is lit up during night hours. It’s a touching and beautiful tribute. We encourage everyone to stop by to view the memorial. Donations are being taken to build a permanent memorial that will replicate the memorial flag field and be placed in Jacksonville, AR at the museum of Military History.
