The Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) will be holding an orientation and open enrollment on September 23rd at 1:00 pm located at the Imboden City Park. This will be the second annual orientation and open enrollment using the “Tale” gate party theme. There will be tailgate party foods, prizes, and a storytime for the children, and an opportunity to enroll your child in the HIPPY program. Each eligible child will recieve a new book.
The program serves children who turned three by August 1st 2010 or are four, or five years old and not in kindergarten. HIPPY is a parent involvement, school readiness program and is free of cost of those who qualify. Participants are given free books, lessons, supplies, and a backpack. Each family is assigned a highly qualified state trained home visitor who spends one hour per week instructing the child’s parent or guardian using the HIPPY curriculum. The parent in turn spends 15 minutes per day teaching their child to ready him / her for kindergarten. Parents are also given the opportunity to scrapbook their chid’s progress during Playdates.
