Shortly after 11:00 pm the Hoxie Fire Department was called for a fire at the Ole Hickory Bar-B-Que on Hwy 67 in Hoxie. Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the ceiling to the rear of the building. Hoxie Incident Commander Will Tate called for the Walnut Ridge Fire Department for mutial aide on the blaze.

Walnut Ridge Fire Department called for the Mobile Air Support Trailer housed at the Imboden Fire Department around 11:30pm. Imboden dispatched it’s Rescue 3 and Mobile Air Support Trailer along with two firefighters to the scene in Hoxie.

Shortly after midnight, Incident Commander Will Tate with the Hoxie Fire Department requested additional manpower from the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Portia Volunteer Fire Department. Both departments responded and were on scene within minutes.

Around 1:30am the fire was contained enough that the Command released both Black Rock VFD and the Portia VFD. Imboden stayed on scene until 2:30am to assist.

The building although still standing is a total loss. The cause of the fire was unknown at the time. No injuries were reported.

The Hoxie PD and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department closed Hwy67 for hours because of the fire.

Also on standby were AET Ambulance Service and MedicOne Ambulance Service. Both remained on scene to assist with medical needs.
