Recently the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department lost it’s rescue truck to a fire in the engine bay of the truck, totaling the truck. Firemen immediately began a huge effort to find a replacement truck for their fleet. After looking at hundreds and hundreds of trucks through out the United States the department met and narrowed their choices to about 5 trucks and then down to 1. On Saturday Jan. 15th the department made the final choice and purchased a 2004 F-450 Ford from a dealer in Parker Colorado, about 30 miles outside Denver.

Tuesday Jan.18th Chief Chris Jones and Lt. Buddy Williams were driven to the Little Rock Airport by Lt. Gene Ponder where they boarded a plane bound for Denver Colorado. They were met by the dealer at the airport and a couple hours later were headed back to Imboden in the new truck. The two ran into a snow storm in Colby Kansas and stopped over for the night, resuming their trip the next day and completing the trip around 8pm Wednesday night.

Thursday Lt. Billy Powell began taking measurements on the new truck to prepare it for changing the beds from the old truck to the new. Lt. Powell is the owner of BJ’s Machining and was the fabricator or the original tank and completed the modifications to the bed on the rescue truck.

Friday, Billy Powell and Chris Jones removed the bed and tank from the old rescue and Buddy Williams prepped the new truck’s bed for removal. The bed of the new truck was removed that afternoon with the assistance of Powell’s Welding’s forklifts.
