On Veterans Day, students from the Imboden Area Charter School attended the Veterans Day ceremony at the Pocahontas Courthouse. While at the ceremony, students visited a living history display of WWII and Korean War era military equipment. The ceremony included the singing of the National Anthem and the playing of the songs of each branch of service. Service members were asked to stand when their respective service area’s song was played. Rousing applause followed as the service members were honored. The Honorable Phil Smith of Pocahontas, Arkansas was the key note speaker at the event. The students, as well as others in attendance, were reminded that we, as Americans, owe a debt of gratitude to the nations’ service members.
This was the second year IACS students attended the Veterans day ceremonies. The classes were recognized for their attendance and were presented with small American flags to be given to each of the classrooms at the school. This trip will be an annual event for the IACS students, so they can share in the honoring of our U.S. veterans.
